Purchasing a portable rechargeable solar crank etc etc radio ( CCrane great reviews ) for working around the house to replace the ailing one i currently have. It does not include the AC to DC charger. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has a few of these in a box from long gone cordless drills, bike lights, telephones , flashlights etc laying around. I have a dozen. The radio requires a 5V unit, I have a 5.8V unit, assuming the polarity is correct ( outside + inside - ) do you think the extra .8 volts would harm the new radio? I am hesitant as I can only assume the components are very specific. The extra cost of the charger won't break my budget, I would just like to re-purpose the old stuff for a change. Theyre heavy for their size, lots of copper in there.
