Yeah, the trick answer is the ISS which is less than 300 miles away overhead when it passes directly overhead. Planes stick closer to the land in most cases, so not many planes within 300 miles ever. Ships on the other hand, definitely! I think the real correct answer is ships. I took a snapshot of shipping activity yesterday and also flight activity.. There were ZERO flights within hundreds of miles. Lots of ships though.
