i have a '90 900 base w/ fabric seats. my passenger seat hasn't worked for a long time so i finally took it out and into a warm place to work. well, first i did all the stuff to check connections and the pressure switch, etc. so the problem was in the seat. i took of the plastic side (toward door) and undid the compression-type fitting to the hand crank (screwdriver to push "teeth" counterclockwise). take off the upholstery clips underneath holding fabric on (retrieve them when they fly off - i lost one) and pull out the side metal rods from their fittings. then peel of a corner of the fabric and expose the wire matrix. the wires lie in a foam pad that must be peeled apart. i was suprised to find that the wires were very small gauge and had a lot of slack. i couldn't imagine them breaking. i suspected the thermostat was dead but actually one of the metal connectors had come undone, probably from kneeling on it. i didn't trust a Saab fix to be this easy so i took undid the zipper to the back and took it off too. all was perfect so i spray glued the foam back in place, put the seat back together, put it back in the car and tested it...toasty. took about a lazy, three beer two hours.
