First get a set of drive up ramps. They are available at any auto store. You may need extenders to avoid hitting the body of the car on the ramps (They make the incline less steep). The ramps make it easier and safer to get under the front of the car.
Next buy oil, Don't get the cheap stuff, I've never had a problem using Castrol GTX, I am currently using Castrol Syntec although others will recommend Mobil 1. These are sort of religous issues on car BBS's. The recommended grade is 10w30. The synthetics come in 6 packs or individual quart containers. If you buy 6 you will have extra to top off with the same oil if necessary instead of whatever the gas station has.
Buy the proper oil filter There is usually a catalog of some sort; paper or electronic near the filters in the parts store. Once you have the filter take it out of the box and go get the proper size filter wrench.
If you don't already have them get a set of metric wrenches. The oil plug is either 17mm or 19mm (I never remember this). Don't forget a pan to drain the oil into and a large funnel.
Run the engine to warm it up then drive the car up on the ramps, The drain plug is on the lowest point on the engine. Take the proper size box wrench (the round end) and turn the plug counterclockwise. Once it is loose unscrew it carefully by hand. Be careful, the oil is HOT. rubber gloves may be a good idea here.
Next look at the oil filter you bought and locate something that looks like it (may be a different color) sticking out the side of the engine. Get the oil filter wrench you bought, Look at how it works: it's like a metal noose, turn it one way the loop gets smaller, the other way the loop gets bigger. Put the wrench on the old filter so that the loop gets tighter as you turn counterclockwise. Once it is loose unscrew it by hand. Be careful, the filter will be hot and hot oil will usually run out.
Get a clean rag and wipe off the flat ring around where the oil filter screws on. Make sure the old rubber gasket didn't stick on the engine. Open a quart of oil, make sure the rubber gasket hasn't fallen off the filter, if it has just push it back into the groove. stick your finger into the oil container and rub oil on the oil filter gasket. screw the new filter onto the engine until the gasket makes contact then turn another 1/2 turn. Do this by hand....don't use the filter wrench. overtightening can cause leaks.
Clean off the oil plug, make sure the copper washer is in place and put the plug back in and tighten with the wrench.
Open the hood and add the proper amount of oil (I have a V6, it holds 4.5 qts.) You can find the capacity in the owners manual. If in doubt put in 4 quarts and check the oil with the dipstick.
Once you have added the oil start the engine and look for leaks around the oil filter.
This is also a good time to check the other fluid levels (brakes, power steering, coolant, washer fluid) and top up if needed. The owners manual will point out where these are.
I was not sure of your skill level so I apologize if this came out condescending.
Good luck.
