I just spent the weekend skiing and snowboarding in southern VT and NY, and everyone was buzzing with the news of another good snowstorm. Here in Kingston NY, the schools were closed in advance (monday closings were announced on sunday night), and today's closings were announced last night.
So far (11:30am tuesday) there's maybe 4-5" of snow on the ground, the streets are clear (just wet), and just about everybody is hunkered down in their homes in fear of this "once in 100 year" storm which might drop a foot or two of snow- almost as much as we got in a storm 6 weeks ago.
As someone who absolutely LOVES snow, I'm still waiting for this storm to DO something. I really hope that I will be proved wrong, and a big, thick slab of snow drops out of the sky today. Otherwise, it will just reinforce my opinion that most people have an unreasonable fear of ANY amount of snow, at any time except for Xmas eve, when 3" of fluff is expected without fail.
A lack of snow on Xmas is absolute proof that global warming will turn our planet into a charred cynder before the next presidential election.
A foot of snow on Xmas is absolute proof that "global warming" is a crock of $&!# theory made up by environmentalist pinko commie subversive activists who want all industry to fail so that we can revert to an agrarian economy.
Any snow at any other time of year is a punishment from god, who obviously favors southerners.
Now I'll sit back and wait for the flaming hate mail from people who can't handle sarcasm, cynicism, and/or clumsy attempts at humor...
