The following from a British site speaks for itself:
Volvo is recalling 116,000 of its flagship S80 executive saloons as part of a worldwide safety campaign.
The Swedish firm's engineers have found a fault on a ball-joint in the front suspension, and believe it may work loose or even fail. That could lead to a complete collapse of the suspension.
Around 5,500 cars in the UK are being called in for repair work, and the firm is also recalling 70 V70 estates with the same fault. A spokesman for Volvo said only 1999 and 2000 model year cars were affected, adding: "Only one car in Britain has demonstrated the fault, with no resulting injury. Our experience suggests that driving on unmade road surfaces is a contributor to the problem."
