That sounds as if it would work fine for salt, but it probably doesn't get much of the grease or dirt off the underside.
I modified the wand for my gas pressure washer by cutting off 2 inches (it was too long anyway) and threading the cut ends of both pieces so they would screw into a 45 degree threaded brass elbow. For normal use I leave off the angled adapter. For cleaning under the car I screw it on.
Use only very low pressure when using a pressure washer anywhere near electrical parts and seals, and be careful not to get the nozzle too close. My washer is rated at 3000 psi max. I keep the knob all the way out for car use - about 1000 psi. I usually wash the underside once in the Spring, and just rinse out the wheel wells routinely with a garden hose when I wash the car.
