During the first 2 months 2001 SAAB only sold 790 cars in Germany.
Feb 2000 Sales: 963 units
Feb 2001 Sales: 386 units
Sales are currently being lost because the German motor
press still refuses to compare a 9-5 Aero manual to a 530i manual.
They simply don't test the Aero, point final.
This ads to many articles in the German motor press that state
that SAAB is being mismanaged by GM and that it has never been
in such a bad shape as now. (which is BS)
Basically it seems that the German motor press is doing its
best to writte only negative headlines on SAAB and Volvo.
Volvo however did increase its sales with the S60.
Also, Audi will not also ship the 250Hp A6 version as in the US
in Europe. It is MORE THEN TIME for SAAB to uprate the Aero to
around 280Hp. (most consumers in europe don't have a clue on what
torque is, they wana see HP) The AWD 9-5 is also becoming an urgent
requirement, otherwise SAAB might well have to reconsider being
in some EU markets. (If need be, use the Haldex system for an AWD 9-5)
It was also a mistake to remove the Viggen from the Euro lineup,
fitting the Viggen rescue kit and uprating to 250Hp and adding a
trosen diff and trac control would have made more sense, plus a rise
in the Viggen price.
Some good news:
Audi TT sales down 68%.
VW Sales down 20.2% accros the board.
VW/Audi recals many AudiA4/A6/A8 for steering failure problems. (ouch)
Audi recals AudiRS4 for tire blows problems. This is due to the
fact that they removed the V-Max limit to 250Km/h and set it to
270Km/h... but omited to uprate tire pressure data. (ouch)
