I use to have a 1987 Baby Benz 190 and also was rear ended and fortunately no one was hurtbecause of the crush zone I was stopped in the left lane waiting for someone to make a left turn a couple of cars ahead. The car behind me was also stopped (foot on the clutch none on his brakes i.e. no brake lights) when he got hit by a small Japenese car doing nearly 50 mph. He was pushed into me and I bore hard on the brakes so as not to hit the pickup in front of me. My rear end buckled tremendously ($7500 damage), the small japanese car suffered major front end damage, the engine was pushed back and the air bag did its job. The car in the middle (an old Nissian) drove away while us on the ends were towed. Go figure.
