I would suggest you try them out. If you have the budget, I think the Aero is the best of both worlds. The 185 lpt 9-5 is no slouch either. A revisited 9-5 is due for 2002. Cosmetically, the changes will be insignificant but there has been talk on the 9-5 BB of a stiffer chassis and more power for the Aero.
The 9-3 will give you a more sporty ride and engine response plus the added convenience of a hatchback. If I was interested in the 9-3, I would wait for the next generation 9-3 slated to come out in the Fall 2002, unless I absolutely wanted a hatchback. It is uncertain at this point when and if a NG 9-3 will be available as a hatchback.
