All you will ever need is car wash soap to clean the canvas....just like what you use on the body. A piece of foam rubber will remove any lint from the top; gently wipe in one direction and periodically beat the lint off the foam rubber so that you don't lift it here and redeposit it there. Do not use a cotton mitt to wash the top - it contributes to leaving lint all over the top. Use a wool mitt or a sponge.
I use 3M's Scotchguard on the top to get the water to bead off just like the body on a recently waxed car. The top must be dry and I use garbage bags to mask the windows and the rear spoiler. Lift the top a little bit, drape the bags over the glass, then park the top again. Since you have a European style top, you'll have to tale the bag in place over the rear window. The older 900s have the American style top and the bag can be fitted without any tape. Spray vertically and then horizontally so you get a criscross pattern and get full coverage.
It take hours for the Scotchguard to dry, so, I do it in the garage and let it sit overnight. I do this 2 or 3 times a year.
