Come on guys, stop complaining about GM and do something.....
If GM is blatantly misrepresenting the facts, surely a few well-written letters/articles published in strategic newspapers and magazines would cause GM to re-think its position?? What does GM think about this discussion??
I can understand that SAAB's heritage is now part of GM's heritage. But that does not give them the right to claim credit for events in SAAB's heritage.
As for whether GM has been good or bad for Saab in general.....if the popularity of newer Saabs (including the viggen) is anything to go by, then GM must be doing something right. What would Saab be today without GM.....another company bought out for 10 quid like Rover??, or like the almost bankrupt Daewoo who may have difficulty honouring warranties.....
But then again, having only owned and driven older SAAB's (long live the 99!!) what would I know?? Personally I would prefer a strong and healthy Saab company to a weak or non-existent company.
As an aside, In Australia GM (Holden) has a long and much respected heritage. I am not sure if this is the same in the US.
Justin
