Depends on perspective and priority...

Other than a few other car nuts I know through various clubs and stuff, everyone I know would probably be aghast at the relative portion of my income that goes to car's (and insurance) these days. I work in the computer industry and have done pretty well but my cars are a stretch for me by almost anyone elses standards. To be honest though, I love 'em and, at least right now, this is where I choose to spend my money. None of them are putting me on the brink of financial disaster (still funding retirement accounts, some savings, etc) but they most definitely exert a very substantial choice in priorities and one that I doubt most people I know would make.
Of all of them, the Saab 900 has been the most surprisingly expensive to maintain. Sure, I got it for a pittance but yowsers. Still, I love it and have high hopes of it being a good winter car once I finish that last few things on my list.
In the end, I sympathize and am probably in a similar situation but it's most definitely by choice. I could sell the cars, get something more reasonable and start buying the toys most of my friends do: Big TV's, Tivo's, PS3's, expensive new computers (hey - my 233mmx works just fine, thank you very much), more expensive vacations (does it get better than camping out and checking out a ProRally event anyway???), stereo's, furniture (ok, so I have furniture but nothing as nice as they do!), etc. At my age (25), I've got lots of time for that stuff. Oh yeah, the women love the 9-5 and the Alfa. :)
