"You have chosen.....wisely!"
The car commemorates Saab's second "Long Run", where they took 8 NG900's randomly off the factory line in 1996 , shipped them to the Talladega Super Speedway and ran them WOT for 8 days straight. They broke many of their old records from a decade before with the original "Long Run" 9000's. The 900's set over 40 endurance, distance and speed records.
The car itself has the same performance characteristics as any other 900 -- the Viggen was still in development at the time. (Mine has been tweaked to Viggen or better performance...) In stock form they are rated at 185bhp, 194 lb/ft torque with the manual transmission (Mine is somewhere around 235bhp est., 250 bl.ft torque est. Dyno verification coming soon...) same hp with 169 lb/ft torque in the automatic tramsmission.
With the $500 "Talladega" Edition option you got:
Color matched bumper upper serfaces and blacked out bumper trim (normally chrome)
Color matched rear spoiler
Color matched mirror fairings
Larger, color matched front spoiler/airdam
Chrome door latch handles
Taupe leather seats
Taupe leather door inserts (normally velour)
Charcoal carpets
Blacked out lower dash facia
16" Super Aero wheels shod with Micheline MXX3 Pilot, 205/55-ZR-16
Three colors were offered: Black, Cayenne, or silver, and were available in all three body styles: 3, 5, and CVT.
That's about it. I dealer added the Clarion CD changer and California Burl Walnut dash.
Since then I've done the following to it in order of modification"
Smoked side markers (small turn signal lights behind the front fenders)
Saab Sport 2.5" Cat-back exhaust
Abbott Racing ECU and wastegate controller
Forge BPV
AutoMeter boost gauge
Abbott Racing Viggen Rescue Kit upper and lower stress bars (poly bushes to be installed later)
Abbott Racing lowering Springs
Zimmerman Crossdrilled front rotors
On order this week: Swedish Auto Specialties' rear sway bar
Saab Viggen intercooler kit
That about does it. You have a great, and VERY rare car! I know you will enjoy it -- I do mine!
