Insurance companies base their rates on actual injury claims, not crash tests. They rate the cars by the total amount of injury claims divided by the number of accidents. SAABs rate very, very low in injury claims. The 9000 actually has THE lowest injury claim rate... the old 900 is pretty close.
This means that in real world crashes, people driving SAABs usually walk away from an accident with little hospitalization. I trust this data a lot more than crash tests. In the US, the national insurance institute publishes the claim numbers.
