I have to disagree with you about the '98 V70s -- although I will qualify it. My wife has a '98 V70 T-5. It is fast, comfortable, good looking (I think -- esp. w/ the T-5 "fan" wheels, blacked-out windows, small rear spoiler, and fire-engine red paint), and hauls our cargo and 3 big dogs. It is also, at least based on our experience, safe. My wife was hit hard in the front left of the car by someone running a red light. The car was pushed into a parked van, which smashed in the front right of the car. BAsically, she became the middle of a sandwich. To top it all off, she was about 7 months pregnant at the time. At the end of the day, the wife, baby and car are all in perfect health : ) As far as reliability, we have hardly had any problems -- other than the accident. My reliability opinion is qualified by the fact that we only have 40,000 miles on the car. I'll be surprised if it will be as trouble free as my '92 900S was when I sold it with 145K on the clock.
