I'm not trying to be an anal-retentive person, but Scott, your phrase "It's just a word," is inherently problematic. I'm about to go on a bit of a tangent/rant here, so you can stop reading if you'd like, but...
OK, I was not an English major in college, I was a Biology major, and I now work in a lab. I was, however, a writing tutor at my college. I also took Latin for two years, and Spanish for a total of 5. I also considered myself an armchair anthropologist in a way. I enjoyed the evolution/anthropology courses that I took, and my best friend from college was an anthropology/latin/greek major. All of this is, of course, leading up to my point - words and languages are very important. I've studied semantics directly and indirectly throughout various stages of human history. And it seems now, more than ever, nobody seems to realize the importance of words in modern-day America. We have changed our language to the point where words change meaning because people don't know or don't care to use them correctly. "Good" is now an adverb as well as an adjective, and "well" is hardly ever used when it should be. Anyway, I'm just trying to say that words are designed to convey meaning. Words have correct meanings attached to them. Noah Webster would cringe at the statement "it's just a word." That's all I have to say. I'll see if anyone cares before I write more. Thanks to all who made it through my rant.

ps. I think "marque" and "brand" are technically synonymous.
