No certainly not all Trans Am owners are like that. In fact, Trans Am owners have more in common with *some* Saab owners than other car owner demographics, etc. I started my own Trans Am / Camaro club when I had my car, and I had about 80 members at its peak existence. Trust me, I know all about who owns these cars. I can tell you that Trans Am owners span everything from very wealthy well educated professionals, to police officers, to high school gear heads. I have to say though that usually the people in higher socioeconomic groups only drive Trans Ams that are either pretty new, or in very good condition. One of the problems with Trans Ams is that they tend to depreciate quickly because a lot of owners beat the hell out of them (well, I did too) and they are very accessible to people with not much money who less them deteriorate even further, then they put on all sorts of token redneck things like "Krager" wheels and "GT" steering wheels and whip antennas, mud tires, etc. I agree with you though that Trans Ams do and have always had a pretty good hold in upper income brackets. All the Saab purists here will argue with me on this one, but its true. I'm basically talking about a lot of the later model ones when they were only putting out from 1500 to 15,000 a year. The 4th generation ones are probably more uncommon than Corvettes, and that is something that people look for. And a lot of Saab purists just dont understand the pleasure of having a big powerful V8 that can slam you into your seat with ridiculous force. NO I'm not attempting to bask in the glory of some redneck lifeforce by pointing out the car's positive points, but the reason SOME people buy them and put up with the redneck stigma of them is that they ARE entertaining like a Corvette or Porsche is entertaining with respect to straight-line performance. They are also quite good on the corners. Its hard to make a valid point about this here without someone throwing some blanket "WHITE TRASH TRANS AMS" statement. Yeah the car is generally a hick car, but if you can dare to not give a crap what people think of you, find your own road, then you would find the car is actually an enjoyable car for spirited driving. Its funny that a lot of Saab owners are some of the most close-minded people I've ever met, and some are the complete opposite. The redneck lifeforce is not going to seep out of the words on your computer screen and infiltrate any gene pools. We're all safe here, ok? I think we're all middle class to upper middle class people here, talking about Trans Ams and our preferences isnt going to hurt anyone. And to the guy I'm replying to, I didnt mean any offense.
