Sorry, I can't answer your question, but it would be very simple to wire the radio with its own independent wire and fuse. All you have to do is install a fuse tap off a switched terminal of the fuse panel and splice it to the power-in wire of the radio.
I certainly wouldn't let a simple "possible problem" affect my decision to buy the car. You have much more serious things to worry about, like the condition of the drivetrain.
