If its in a sidewall, I would thow the tire out. The flex will cause a dis-bond and you will have another flat, probably at a bad time (dark country road, dead cell phone, near a cemetary, cute girl in car, chainsaw noise in background). If its in the tread area AND the cords are not damaged, it can be patched. A plug in a radial tire will be sawn through by the cords and give the same results though slower than patching a sidewall.. Another lesson I leared the hard way is that some "fix-a-flat" products contain chemicals that will keep a patch from bonding to the tire. Also spend the couple extra bucks and insist the tire be reballanced. What the heck get them all done while your there reading "Tire Dealer" magazine from 1985. Make sure they use a tourque wrench when the put the tires back on the car.
