Who says there are still some metallic particles left in a new engine? I
have not heard that from any automotive expert in the last 10 years. After an engine block (or heads) is molded & machined, it goes through an anti-
corrosion rinsing process that involves an electromagnetic current. This
process was not used 25, 50 yrs. ago. Thus the recommended early oil
change.
I'm more concerned with the 10-15 km first oil change. Your car does not
come with a pure synthetic. I would never go that long on regular oil or
even a semi-syn. I don't know where you live, but here in Texas where
summer heat is a factor, sludge in newer cars is a real problem for
people who don't change their oil regularly. I don't mean every 3,000 mi., but no longer than 5-6,000.
I know a woman with a new $58,000 Toyota Land Cruiser. She pulled into the dealership @9,ooo miles because of smoke, you guessed it! She had sludge in her new V-8 engine & once that happens, you have shortened the life of the engine no matter what you do. That engine is $9,000 out of the box.
