Monday - A terrible, horrible, no good, very bad, day

I had to know Monday was going to be a rotten day when I woke up late to a thunderstorm and realized that my wife had grabbed my umbrella (forgetting that hers was already in her car). But it only went downhill from there.
On the way to work, my driver's side wheel went through a puddle that was a little deeper than expected - and was hiding an iron water meter that had been popped up by the storm. The impact dented the rim badly and damaged the sidewall on the tire. I was able to track down a junkyard Viking wheel to replace the damaged one for $185 - it will be available tomorrow. Also, I'm expecting delivery tomorrow of a full set of Nokian NRW tires from etires.com (tires were going to need replacing by end of summer anyway) - for $504 including shipping. Grand Total (including Costco mounting) $709. Any comments on whether I should get an alignment done as well once the new tires are on?
As if starting my day with over $700 in wheel/tires wasn't bad enough, Monday ended on an even worse note. Right around midnight we had to put our dog to sleep - she was in the midst of a cycle of seizures due to liver failure. I can't wait until the new tires are on the car. I could really use a nice, long drive on a sunny day with the top down about now.
