If he likes his Aero Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Sun, 26 May 2002 12:59:29 In Reply to: Saab vs. MB vs. BMW............, SPGuy, Fri, 24 May 2002 18:20:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It shouldn't be hard to get him to try a 9-5. If he doesn't like his Aero, forcing him to try something is counterproductive.
Check out some of the car mags, especially AutoWeek, on the baby Benz. Yes, it's small, but it's also cheap. Apparently it doesn't have the fit and finish Americans have come to expect from MB. That's because it isn't as expensive. But folks have come to expect all MB's to be the same fit and finish as a $80K S500. So if you want the three-pointed star, you can get one and amaze your friends and confound your enemies. But it's still small, not as well bolted together, and slow.
However, I highly recommend NOT convincing your dad, or anyone else, for that matter to get a car. You can recommend they try something, but leave it at that. Convince them to buy something, and now you are responsible for it 'till the end of time. All the other cars that he COULD have bought will ascend to percieved greatness, while the reality of this car will be there every day.
So anything goes wrong with the car he buys, or something he doesn't like, it'll be your fault. Of course, the BMW whatever would never have this problem.
