For years auto dealers have sold Teflon sealant products for automotive finishes and interiors. By applying teflon to the paint the very tiny teflon molecule fills in the crevices in the paint and makes the finish smoother to make it harder for things to adhere to the paint. Teflon sealant protection usually comes with a 5 year warranty so that if something does get in to the paint the teflon company removes it or pays to have it repainted.

I used to think it was hocus pocus, just a dealers way of charging you for a fancy wax job, but time and time again I've seen nice paint finishes on older cars and found out that the car had the teflon paint protection. Better living through chemistry!
