Yep. Wasn't sure whether the Wallenbergs were still the same group as Investor or not. 'Tis a shame/blessing that they felt they had to sell off the car division of Saab. If only they poured more money into it, but then it could easily have been viewed as a loss leader at the time. Let's face it, Saab in the late 80's was on a downward spiral when the entire industry was going through a major transformation.
Blessing to see the cash influx today, but GM??? Good gawd! Love my '02 Aero, but I already see GM's "engineering" influence. I find the steering vague and overboosted. Glad to see the heart of Saab is still there in the 2.3 T, but I fear the Saabiness will continue to diluted over time only to become yet another "Epsilon Platform" badge engineered concoction. (If I wanted a Cadillac CTS, I'd buy a CTS, Opel Omega, Saturn Whattever...)
Oh, well. If it didn't happen, I suppose it would have gone the way of the Ro 80, or Alfa/Fiat, Peugeau (sp?), Lancia, and all the other great cars we no longer see here in the States. I remember growing up in the late 60's and early '70's and in our neighborhood you could find Triumphs, MG's, Jensen Healey's, Austin Healey's, and all manner of great European makes all over the place. All gone.
Tis sad.
Okay, rant over. Back to work. Hope all had a great 4th!
