I read that one, too... Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Mon, 15 Jul 2002 12:53:49 In Reply to: 9-5 aero review - Boston Globe, morlok, Sun, 14 Jul 2002 23:40:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
One giveaway for me was a comment that the reviewer had driven Saabs into the mid '80's, but gave up on them when the 9000 came in. He definately didn't like the 9000.
If you're a mid-80's OG900 enthusiast, the 9000 was a move towards the dark side, and that makes the 9-5 a cross between Heresy and Satan's choice for a cargo hauler.
The reviewer liked the engine, liked the interior, loved the features. He found the suspension to be a bit soft. It's a wagon, fer chrissakes! Take an A6 Avant and load it with a major appliance (like you can do with a Saab) and the 'sport' suspension will rattle your teeth out.
I'm not sure which techno-neato bits were missing from the Saab - not enough room in the review.
Hey, I don't claim that the 9-5 Wagon is the best wagon in the world. But I found the review to be a bit suspect.
I guess I'll just have to judge for myself. My wife already refers to the 9-5 wagon as 'my dream car'.
