I'm looking for a sporty upscale manual transmission car and simply cannot afford a Saab (see bottom for details). These two japanese coupes have caught my eye and seem to be critically regarded as very nice vehicles (the SC 300 moreso).
They both run a 6.6 second 0-60 and 15.3 on the 1/4 mile. Though neither are as handsome as a Saab, I think they're nice looking...Acura discontinued the line/body style in '95 while Lexus discontinued it in '99 or so (big edge to the lexus there...I want somewhat modern looking car). The Lexus is RWD and Acura is FWD (Advantage: Lexus...more fun). Lexus is 5 speed and Acura 6 speed (The more the better...though I can't comment on shifter feel and that's all that really matters).
Car and Driver had the SC 300 on its top ten list for 3 or 4 years, I guess that's a good sign.
Does anyone have any experience with these two? I'm leaning toward the SC 300 at this point but would really appreciate feedback from you guys.
I don't want to hear "get a saab" either...I have had Saabs and love them to death but just cannot afford the maintainence and reliability risks at this stage in my life...(can't wait to be able to!!)
A 9000 would be perfect if: people didn't want too much for them, the shifter/transmission didn't suck and the years that I could afford didn't have TCS issues
A NG900 would be perfect if: it was a safe bet reliability wise, the transmission/shifter didn't suck and it didn't have the cable actuated clutch (I can't afford a '98)
I look forward to hearing what you think!
Thanks,
Nate
