It depends. If you told the dealer to 'fix the check engine light' and the fix did not work, then he needs to fix it and something may have just come loose. However, if you told him to 'fix the fetzer valve' thinking it was the fetzer valve that was causing the fix engine light to come on, and he fixed the fetzer valve, then he did what he was supposed to.
Another possibility is that he fixed the check engine light the first time and something has happened that has turned the light on as a warning, just as it is supposed to do. In that case you need to have the car checked out. Yet another possibility is that something new and unrelated has caused the light to come on in error, in which case you may be looking at paying again.
I'd just take let the dealer know that you just had it in there to get the light fixed and it appears to be back on for the same reason. If his fix didn't take, you most likely won't have to pay. Good luck- JerryC
