Every now and then, I can't resist a black car. They are show beautiful - what a Siren Song! I then deal with the challenge of keeping it concours - arghh! My last black car was an '01 Audi TT quattro in raven black. I used the Zymol for black paint. It worked very well and hid swirl and spiderwebs in the clearcoat just great. The Zymol is not cheap ($38-40/container) - but it will last two years with bi-weekly waxes... remember to put wax on thin!!!! Its only the molecules of wax that touch the paint that actually stay on the car - the rest is just decoration for you polishing cloth. Be very careful with how you wax. DO NOT use circular motions to remove wax - that guarantees that any fine lines in the clear coat are visible from ALL angles. Horizontal surfaces should be waxed back-to-front. Vertical surfaces should be waxed up-and-down. This minimizes marks from the dominant viewing/sun angles.
Of course, my latest car is a silver '02 Aero. Waxing is a breeze with Griot's Best of Show wax - 35 minutes.
Good luck in the dark arts
Eric
