OT: Sopranos. Good Episode!

Hi,
I like this episode. It gives us an insight into Tony's psyche.
Tony struggled mightily with his self image this week. After all, all
of us need to feel that we are intrinsically good people in some way.
At first, I was somewhat puzzled at Tony's bewilderment at MB
saleswoman's suicide death. Then, I remembered the psychological link
between her and Tony's mother. Did you see what Tony did when
he settled down with her on the couch in his dream? He didn't french
kiss her (as is customary). The broken down home was somewhat
reminiscent of his past dreams of himself nursing as a baby.
Tony has that same family/work duality that Johnny Sacks struggled
with two episodes ago, and because the MB saleswoman was Tony's mother
figure his self image and framework for leading his entire life was
caving in like the leaky roof in the house of Tony's dream.
I think that Tony *did* know that Artie would mess up. He knew that
Terminator2 would mess up so that the sporting goods store could be taken
over. Everyone saw that Artie was going to lose the money. A shrewd
person like Tony could not have missed it. It's in his nature (remember
the Scorpion Fable?).
Rescuing Artie from suicide after prodding him on to try to be enforcer
which he is not, signing the life trust, giving the nice suit to Carmela's
cousin, and making nice with Janice are all overcompensation aimed
at propping up Tony's crumbling self image.
thanks
Jae
