Every two years, as stated by others, is a good standard. This is rgardless of what the factory says.
Not only does the fluid absorb moisture, which causes degraded braking performance, but it gets dirty from wear of the moving parts - the cylinder pistons and o-rings, and cylinder walls. (Yeah, the walls don't move, but they wear.)
The fluid gradually accumulates a black sludge due to wear of the components. By sucking the reservoir clean and dry with a suction device (syringe or baster), then refilling and flushing the entire system, you are removing most of the contaminants and moisture.
The only good hydraulic system is a clean one. Nothing destroys sensitive components faster than dirty fluid.
The same rules apply to your other hydraulic systems as well - clutch and power steering. Want them to live a long and healthy life - give them regular fluid changes.
So.... how many folks here flush their power steering system?
