Thanks for your detailed input, Karen. I'm just nervous about the cost factor of maintaining the Saab - regardless of it being new. My '90 900S cost me a small fortune - kudos to my Swedish obsession but OUCH to my savings, etc. So, I had almost no choice to go Japanese. I miss the SAAB experience, you know?
Yes, I did drive both several times each - I even drove the xterra rather hard over some rather rough stuff and it was fantastic. It'll be a v6 and since I cycle, the whole keeping the bikes inside thing is pretty attractive. The price difference was a guestimate as I finding the 9-3 come in various setups making the price from $27ish to $31ish. I'm more of a purist and wouldn't necessarily want the whole launch package stuff. So, I just figured on $5K. The Nissan dealer is more forgiving, mostly cuz it's not the XTERRA's intro year as is with the new and reformed 9-3.
I won't be picking up too many people too much of the time, but again, I have more bikes than the average Joe/Jane and will use the interior thing nicely.
The other thing is I'm from Montana and do see myself moving back in the near future, so the truck would fit nicely - and so would the SAAB as it is a nice winter car.
The GAS CONSUMPTION issue is really the biggest problem right now. I'm used to driving a SUV as my folks have always had one while growing up, so I can "get used to" driving the big rig - BUUUUT, who can complain about driving a saab?
Anyhow, thanks, again, and please give my best to your 81 year old mother.
Mark
