You first need to determine if its a fuel or ignition problem. It could be either. Check the spark. If its got spark, check the fuel by cracking a fuel line connection to see if it has residual pressure when not running.
One typical problem point on bricks is the fuse block. The brass contacts get corrosion on them and the fuses don't make good contact. If this happens with the fuel pump fuse -- well you can guess the results. You have to disconnect the battery and clean the contacts in the holder and on the fuse ends. You can buy stainless fuses to replace the original style ones.
Fuel delivery could be impeeded by a clogged filter (in tank or under car) -- there's two the in tank one is basicly a screen to stop the big stuff but it can get clogged. Changing the one under the car is guaranteed to provide you with a gasoline bath.
Check the distributor rotor and cap and(you don't say the year but if it has them points).
I've had more 140/240/160 cars than I can count.
