You can still get an old MG or other no frills old british car. They'll be a lot more than you paid for them back in the day, and require plenty of work to upkeep. or you could get an older looking replica car with the modern conveniences like seatbelts, fuel injection, or turbos.
I'd be looking for midlife crisis cars in this order:
Ariel Atom
Cobra replica
Lotus elise/exige
some sort of Seven clone - lots to choose from
Noble (just a little too pricey, but super seductive in the flesh)
Shelby daytona coupe replica
Jag E-type 4.2 coupe with triple webers (already got a less powerful E-type and can't afford more than one)
Miata
Toyota MR2
