Agreed, compared to a '69 (or '67-68) the new car is huge... fat. Park the two side by side and the old car looks lean, light, athletic.
But the was true of the "new Beetle", and the MINI vs the Mini. And if you really want to see bloated, walk up to a new Challenger. Looks fine in photos, but then you realize the thing is wearing 20" wheels and everything else is upsized to suit!
