Totally agree if you're planning on leasing, get exactly what you want and enjoy it until the lease/warranty expires. It may cause you a bit of grief having to take it in from time to time, but assuming they have a loaner program (and I can only assume they would) then there's really not an issue. If I were a leaser, the RR would most likely be in my driveway; instead, I bought a Corolla. ;-)
And I agree about the Ferrari analogy - if you want a RR, nothing else will really compare. Even the Lexus LX just doesn't cut it. While the Lexus will be more reliable, to me, it just doesn't have the same appeal as the Range Rover. Not even close. You're either a Ferrari guy or a Lamborghini guy and you're either a Range Rover guy or a Lexus guy.
Speaking of Lamborghini, if you really want to make a statement, drop the RR and look at getting an LM002:
