A6 DIY friendly?

A discussion began on the 9-5 board, I was hoping to move it here and continue.
Looking for a replacement for my 2002 9-5 Aero SW that a deer took out 3 months ago. I quickly picked up a 1999 wagon, but looking to upgrade.
There is but one 9-5 Aero wagon/combi within 300 miles of NE Indiana, so considering others, including E-class, 5-series, and V70's. There's a few of them around, but not within 2-hr drive.
I had read (primarily on SAABnet) that Audi's were complicated and difficult to work on, that you had to remove the whole front end of the car just to replace the Serpentine belt.
Then the other thread JonAerol said that that process took all of 20 minutes.
There was major redesign in 2005, I might assume John was talking about pre-2005, or is the current model also DIY friendly?
If others would like to chime in on E-class, 5-series, and V70's, that would also be helpful.
I'm quite familar with 9-5's, would jump on another Aero SW/SC IF I can find one.
thanks
Ed
