I think are really missing the point here - people who buy Town Cars buy them for their simplicity. If you want high tech stuff, Lincoln makes five other vehicles that more closely match your needs. The Town Car is for people and companies that don't care or, more likely, don't want anything other than necessities. Your example of the six disc changer below was added in *1998* as an option, the last time Ford did anything with the Panther platform. Since then, like the Crown Vic and GM's "Malibu Classic" the Town Car has been produced as-is because people buy it, not because they are trying to win new customers or beat the competition.
I don't think you can look to internet forums as an indicator of who is buying what or how often. Chances are the Town Car forum is active because they made the things, essentially unchanges, for twenty years and they have a reputation for being durable. There are lots of them still on the road BECAUSE they don't have fancy electronics to break. If you want a comfortable car that you don't have to fix, you buy a Town Car and rely on the internet to keep it running. The MK cars forums are dead for the same reason the BMW F01 and Audi D4 forums are dead - because those cars are STILL UNDER WARRANTY and/or being driven by monied people who don't DIY. If we had a time machine I could show you what the 9-5 forum here looked like in, say, 2002 - CRICKETS!
Look, I know you really liked the Town Car and you'd rush right out and buy one if only it had Blue Tooth and a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo, but it doesn't, wasn't designed to, and never will. The Town Car is a zombie corpse and has been for well over a decade. We know, Ford knows it, and rental car companies know it. You need to accept that, and move on.
