Gotta' 2011 335d loaner yesterday for a day, nav, sport package, premium package, the whole 'schamola. First experience with nice steering wheel paddles that allow you to row the gears without shifting into manual mode. Took me a couple of times to try and find the seat bolster squeezer thingy so the sport seat wasn't so narrow. Played with the iCrash, ummm iDrive, not near as difficult to work as the previous 5 Series iDrives I'd worked 5 years ago. Nav had huge screen, extra wide, with a cool 3D that showed you things in perspective towards the horizon. You have to put the big fob without a key in the slot in the dash AND press the start stop button, a PITA, should be keyless go.

Diesel is very undiesel like, very quiet, a little more mechanical vs the turbine whine of the normal six. You can feel the massive torque. 1,500 revs at 60mph. Wish I could get a diesel in an X3.....

Didn't miss a bit of the luxury or sporty touches and equipment of the 335d when I got back in my base strippee X3. And I really enjoy the much higher seating position of the X3. The 335 reminds me of my Saab in that you constantly have to be on guard for curbs and dips, whereas the X3 pounds over curbs and ignores even big dips.

The window screech/squeak that woulda' been a window roller in a Saab needed a whole new regulator in a BMW.

I originally wanted to pay for a synthetic oil change early, $150 at the dealer but only $95 at my local Hans Foreign Car Service, rather than go with the service indicator recommendation in another 9,000 miles. The service adviser said BMW would pick it up under the free maintenance if I waited a month because he said they will do it once a year regardless of miles, hmmmm.
