Actually I have a '11 Jeep Wrangler 4 door hard top that I bought a few months ago and so far my wife and I really love it. It continually exceeds my expectations. I'm not really into going off road but what really has surprised me is how good it is on road. On the highway it's quieter and rides better than the loaded '05 Outback it replaced. The seats are great. You sit up tall for visibility yet it isn't overly large--it's great in parking lots and urban situations. Oddly I'm getting better mpg than I did with the Subaru. If you use the "Eco" feature and other techniques you can readily get 20 mpg around town and 23 highway. I've gotten as high as 25 mpg at 68mph with a tailwind (don't laugh).Throw in the ability to take the top off and you have a really fun vehicle. The down side for those who buy used is the phenomenal resale value--four and five year old ones still bring mid twenty K prices. You can buy a new one for a few grand more. I don't know a lot about a Patriot but if you really want a Wrangler the Patriot isn't going to do it. There's much to be said for paying cash, but there's also something to be said for getting what you really want. You could get a nicely equiped 4 door hardtop auto for a shade under $30K, they had 0 percent interest for a time and if you joint one of the Jeep Clubs you can buy for under invoice. And in four or five years you could sell it for nearly what you paid. The Jeep puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, and these days that's no small thing.
