It is better than the first generation 40 models but with some weak designs.
The PCV system have some problems (doesn't all cars nowadays, sigh) and the rear suspension is a joke with camber going out when the car rolls off the assembly line (especially right side).
Luckily, the after market industry have stepped up to the plate and come out with an adjustable upper link arm that fit both Volvo, Mazda3 and Ford Focus so that you can get the wheel pointing fairly straight upwards instead of looking like an old tired VW bug.
The car is more tinny sounding then the 60/70/80 models just like the 9-3 Sport Sedan compared to the 9-5 when closing the doors due to skimping on the sound proof material.
Changing the A/C pollen filter is a nightmare and the white coat labrats must have been drunk when they design it hiding behind the gas pedal that has to be removed and that you have to crumble it up to a ball, shove it in and then hope that it unfolds inside the A/C housing.
Doesn't make it better that Volvo wants the A/C filter changed every 15K now. But they have to make up the loss of other important filters that are now on a 120K to 150K interval like fuel filter.
Do you have other use for the Aero, why not let her keep that instead?
I would rather you look at an S60 plain and simple non turbo, automatic, that's my favorite when people ask. Bigger, safer, less hassle to work on.
