Wife's People hauler having serious issues...
2006 5.3 V8 misfiring, rough idle, getting random cylinder (p0300) or cylinder 1 (p0301) misfire code almot every time I start the car.
117k on odometer, so not new, but also not 'high mileage' for these engines. Bought 4 months ago with 109k on clock. Engine ran fine till ~4 weeks ago
What I've done over last 3 weeks: fuel injector cleaner, plugs, wires, coil pack on 1, intake gasket and manifold, checked battery, replaced serp belt, air filter, cleaned MAF, swapped injector 1 with 2, tested fuel rail pressure engine off ok (no leak-down, held pressure 5 mins). Oil change last night, more metal shavings than expected on magnetic drain plug, but not 'horrible'...
(also did evap vent solenoid for the 'gas cap code', but guessing that should be completely unrelated.)
Doing compression test next, any other thoughts?
I've been really impressed by some of the knowledgable guys on the NG900 board that I frequent, hoping someone can provide similar, perhaps car-generic, insights, because I'm already operating past my point of previous car knowledge... this is just farther into things than I've gotten before.
