I would highly recommend driving it. You will be amazed. I have a 96 900SE that is getting long in the teeth (currently for sale).
I have been wanting a premium sport wagon and the top of my list were the following:
- 9-5 Aero
- V70R
- AllRoad

Note that I really desire AWD. When I saw the new Legacy/Outback at the NYC Auto Show back in April, I decided to wait and try it out. Well, it was worth it.

For the money (around 30K), the vehicle IMHO has no rivals. The new Outback is a class above the old one. It is very much akin to the ALLROAD, albeit 10-20K cheaper.

I have the 5EAT and I am pretty sure that it is quicker than 7 seconds in 0 to 60. Beyond that, it pulls strongly, especially on the interstate.

I picked mine up at the end of September and have had ZERO regrets. I can't wait for the snow!!!

Do yourself a favor and go take a test drive. If you decide to buy, you should have no problem getting one at invoice (check out IMBA/Subaru VIP program).
