mazda5 and car seats Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Sat, 15 Sep 2012 13:06:09 In Reply to: Fix it myself..., Johnson [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 15 Sep 2012 11:40:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
We did a long term rental in a mazda5. Imho worst case combination of a minivan and an econobox. Really hated driving that thing. Too small to have the functionality of a minivan, but it still keeps most of the crappy driving dynamics. Lacks power. Lacks comfort. Really only seats 4 because the back seats are *tiny* and virutally jammed against the back door (so you can't carry any cargo while seating 6 and I wouldn't want my kids back there if I was rear ended)...
fuel economy was decent and probably reasonably reliable (if you don't live in a place where cars rust). that's about the only good thing I can say about it.
I've said it before + I'll say it again, car seats are cheaper than cars. Sunshine Kids Radian is narrow enough to put 3 seats across a c900 and as safe as a Britax. We've sat 2 kids + adult comfortably in the back of ours + in our 9-5... we've had 3 kids in carseats in the back of a c900... for a long trip though, a good touring car (like the 9-5) is a real benefit. mazda5 was not a good touring car imho...
you know, you could probably buy a half decent 9-5 for $3k, especially if you fix the cars yourself...
