The B6 is largely derivative of the B5, so a fairly refined design. I think they are largely reliable, though the 2.0t was subject to a number of problems the 1.8t wasn't, and AFAIK they did not really address the reliability problems of the automatic transmissions. *Personally* I wouldn't own an automatic Audi with more than 150k on it for that reason alone. No such issues with the manual, though, so that's nice. ;) Somewhat related, the 3.0 V6 has a 90k (IIRC) replacement interval on the timing belt, so at 160k you're coming up quickly on the second change. It's not a cheap service - expect to pay around $1500. You can do it yourself for about $500 in parts, but it's a fair PITA. Although my heart is in four cylinder turbos, I think for a B6 the 3.0 + manual transmission is a fine way to go - probably one of the more reliable, recent Audis made.
