I've driven ~3000 miles in an Acadia rental... Pretty bad dynamics and hard to see smaller cars and bikes. I thought it was a pretty dangerous thing. Very much bloated. I could never own something like that. Fuel economy was atrocious also.
Though smaller and less bloated, in most respects, the 2009 Forester was even *worse* to drive than the Acadia. Especially with the 4 speed auto. I hope they have done a lot to improve it! Ghastly thing.
I'm impressed with Tim's fuel economy with the MDX and also that it was what he chose, not vs other SUVs but vs BMW 3 series etc. Certainly they have come a long way. Is it the vehicle for me? Not sure - I'd have to test drive it and I have no immediate need for another vehicle, but it is interesting to keep abreast of how these things are developing. Generally, I prefer a lower seating position, but otherwise, it all sounds rather positive compared to SUVs of years past.
