The definate most common fail point is the boost control valve and bpv. I replace them like mad. Also to note what Jak said, the turbo's DO go bad and will not make as much boost. It should be a mitsu td04 if it's stock. Checking the compressor wheel for play wouldn't take to much time or hurt anything. Someone noted unplugging the wastegate, and this would tell you 1 if your turbo will stil make boost and also if it does than you have a control issue. Software could be an issue also. typically fuel pump failure's on the 9k go bad. either working or not working. Not typically somewhere inbetween, however a ripped line in the pump assembly could cause a similar effect. Good luck
