Hi,
Just to clarify, B2x4 engines do NOT have forged internals. They do, however, seem to be able to take a lot more beating than B2x5 pistons.
Around 400 hp or so is usually fine with a B2x4 in sound condition. Anything beyond that, and forged pistons (preferrably Wössner for everyday street use) is a very good idea.
In terms of turbo selection, the small GT3071R-WG (0,64 A/R) will deliver 420-440 hp or so. The larger 0,86 A/R will make it capable of close to 500 hp. My friend runs that turbo in his 510 hp (dynoed in Rototest) 9000 Aero, so the 480 hp rated by Garrett are definetely conservative. Both these work fine with internal WG.
The next step up, the GT30R (or GT3076R as it's sometimes referred to) should be run with external WG, and will handle around 540-550 hp.
Best regards,
KK
