You can just fit the talon IC with reducers and whatever pipes you already have. It will work fine and will be an improvement that you'll definitely notice.
Bigger piping and fewer/smoother bends will always improve airflow, though, but that may be a project for next year?
I was using a small (6 inch?) SPAL fan with my stock intercooler, but I haven't bothered to hook it up to my talon unit because now I have a water injection system.
Also, since the talon unit is shorter than the saab IC, it doesn't extend all the way down to the engine bay floor. I don't know if most other people just let it hang there, which is probably OK, but I made a little sheet metal 'seat' to extend the bottom of the talon IC and provide support.
