Correct Opening Vaccum for Viggen BVP?

I just purchased an after market BVP but have yet to install it. Playing with it, I noted that it requires more vacuum to open than the OEM valve. I tested both with my 'MityVac II' and the OEM valve requires 7 inches of Mercury while the after market requires 10 inches of Mercury.
Is this a problem?
I've read in other posts that a valve that opens too late can 'shock' the turbo causing turbo lag and eventual premature failure of the bearings...possible? A local mechanic with some Saab tuning experience says it shouldn't make a difference and if it were to cause trouble I'd hear and feel it.
The car is a 2002 Viggen with the only engine mdification being an MP IC. The installed OEM BVP is original. The car runs perfectly now....I know why fix it if it ain't broken!! The new BVP has good 'bling' value and is a piston type and therefore rebuildable.
Any enlightenment would be appreciated,
Robert
